Winter Animals

We've been learning how woodland animals adapt
to winter weather.  Some animals, like bears, hibernate.

Some woodland animals migrate to warmer places.  Other
animals begin preparing for cold weather in the fall and store up
food.  These animals slow down during winter months and are
dormant.  Some animals are active in winter and hunt for their food.

Pinecone feeders

The children made birdseed feeders from pinecones.

We've been reading lots of books about animals in winter.

Kindergarteners had a visit from the dental hygienist.

Youtube video of, The Mitten by, Jan Brett.  We read and
retold the story about the woodland characters from the book.
