Skill Block Standards

Smile, it's picture day!

Parents, we need your help.  We need some of your
empty containers.  If you have paper towels rolls, small
cardboard boxes, plastic lids and bottles, cupcake liners,
craft sticks, fabric/felt scraps, cotton balls or pipe-cleaners,
we could use them.  Please rinse and dry the plastic first and
remove outer labels if possible.  NO glass please.  The children
are going to plan and create a toy using their imaginations and crafts.

Example of a cardboard box robot toy.

Students work on sight words during skills block.

We've been learning to listen for syllables or "beats"
in words.  Given a word with one or more syllables,
students clap out the number of word parts they hear.

We've also been working on rhyming words. Students
listen for words with the same ending sounds.
